Sommelier
Join The Herbfarm as Sommelier at one of America’s premier restaurants with one of the top wine programs and the most attentive service. You’ll be on the floor for service most Thursdays through Sundays during our nine-course seasonally and regionally influenced tastings menus that have been paired (by you) with 5-6 Northwest wines. As a key staff member on the wine team of one of America’s most-visible destination restaurants, it is The Herbfarm’s goal that its sommeliers achieve national recognition and awards. The Herbfarm will support and promote these efforts.

Both are proprietors of The Herbfarm Restaurant
- Recommends wine pairings for each day’s menu-from cellar and/or purveyors
- Recommends wine for replacement /addition to The Herbfarm’s list and inventory
- Recommends and maintains inventory for glass pours and samplers
- Creates and serves non-alcoholic beverage options to match the menu
- Recommends and maintains inventory for beer, water, herbal non-alcoholic beverages
- Weekly Wine team meetings on “prep day”
- Recommends, explores, updates coffee/tea menu listings
- Pulls and prepares wine before dinner, bringing each wine to the proper serving temperature
- Opens (and decants) wine, Insures that each bottle is sound
- Educates staff in nightly, pre-dinner meeting of changes & updates of served wines
- Presents nightly menu talk to guests with chef in front of dining room
- Management of beer, herbal, non-alcoholic beverages including bottled waters
- Discusses beverages with guests
- Assists guests to make additional beverage selections
- Presents, opens, serves wine table-side for bottle sales
- Manages sales tracking to be sure all extra beverages served (incl comps) are in POS
- Assists general service when possible by helping serve and present food, remove plates/silver/glassware, as well as refreshing napkins
- Closing responsibilities for restaurant 2-3 nights per week
- Take lead in retaining Herbfarm's 5-Diamond service rating
- Responsible for maintenance and inventory/location of 24,000+ bottle cellar
- Responsible for accurately receiving wine
- Manages pricing of wine in guest wine lists
- Responsible for nightly and weekly breakage report
- Maintains an attractive cellar
- Maintains inventory of beer and non-alcoholic beverages
- Inventory management of supplies for samplers, alternate pours, etc
- Shares monthly inventory responsibility of all pantry items with kitchen
Fine Dining Server

You have the opportunity to create lasting memories in a relaxed and elegant setting while serving 5-hour, 9-course dining experiences at The Herbfarm Restaurant. Smiles, Elegance, Grace and several years of Hospitality experience are needed to apply for this position.
We seek an enthusiastic, passionate, disciplined, organized, warm, team member who is eager to learn The Herbfarm ways and provide better-than-expected service as part of our focused yet fun-loving service team.
The Herbfarm is a world-class fine dining experience where our food follows the seasons. Our feet are on the ground and we usually have a sense of humor. We are the only 5-diamond restaurant west of Chicago and north of San Francisco. That said, we are also the only restaurant serving 9-course meals where guests can visit and feed our pet piggies during dinner!
The server job is up to 4 nights per week most of the year—Thursday through Sunday (there are occasional exceptions) and one afternoon per month. This position will be a back up / Fill-in for days we need extra servers. Also, it can move to full time economy improves. Samplings of 4-star food with wine matches are a regular perq of this job.
Pre-requisites
- College education
- 3 Years fine hospitality serving experience

Greet and help folks from around the globe who want to come and enjoy our highly rated 5-hour, 9-course dining experience focusing on seasonal and regional ingredients at their prime. Smiles, organization, strong communication skills, team orientation, poise as well as several years of hospitality/customer service/office experience are needed to apply for this position.
We seek an enthusiastic, passionate, disciplined, organized, warm, individual who is eager to learn The Herbfarm 5-Diamond ways and become a member of our 3-4 person, quality-oriented, fun-loving reservation team.

We are the only 5-diamond restaurant west of Chicago and north of San Francisco. That said, we are also the only restaurant serving 9-course meals where guests can visit and feed our pet piggies during dinner!
This reservationist job will start with full thyme training and then may be part thyme for a while although we hope the economy allows us to employ you full thyme from the get go. Our office is open 10AM to 5PM seven days a week so the schedule (9-5:30) rotates with all reservationists working some weekend days (once fully trained). Schedules are set one month at a time coordinating each person's scheduling needs as best we can.
