Join The Herbfarm as a Sommelier at one of America’s premier restaurants with one of the top wine programs. You'll be on the floor for service Thursday through Sunday during our nine-course seasonally and regionally influenced tastings menus that have been paired with 5-6 Northwest wines. As a key staff member on the wine team of one of America’s most-visible destination restaurants, it is The Herbfarm’s goal that its sommeliers achieve national recognition and awards. The Herbfarm will support and promote these efforts.

- Pulls, prepares and serves wine, beer, non-alcoholic beverages at dinner

- Presents nightly menu talk for guests with chef in front of dining room
- Assists general service when possible by helping serve and present food, remove plates/silver/glassware, as well as refreshing napkins

general requirements
- Honesty
- Extensive knowledge of the world's wines with particular emphasis on the wines of the Pacific Northwest
- At least 5 years professional wine experience
- Team player, good communicator
- Able to share passion and enthusiasm for wine with down-to-earth openness without alienating beginners and capturing the interest of experienced wine folk
- Willingness to help in all front of house facets of restaurant operations-3 years hands-on experience at least
- Superior command of English
- Capable public speaking abilities
- Good posture, body care, body language, and steady hands-non-smoking
- Pleasant personality with a winning smile
- Stamina and the ability to be on one's feet for 10 hours (with the pleasant attitude above)
schedule
- Generally Thursday through Sunday service
- Weekly Wine team meetings on "prep day" (during day-- generally Wednesdays)
- Approximate 40 hours per week schedule is prepared a month in advance
- Closing responsibilities 2-3 nights per week (2am finish)
compensation
- Salaried at a competitive rate.

- Health Insurance- medical, dental and vision paid 50% by The Herbfarm
- Paid Vacation: 2 weeks per year. Vacation increases to 3 weeks per year after 5 years employment
- Good Health days-maximum two per year--paid days off for being healthy
- Wine-Travel Education (after being here 6 months): By advance scheduling and approval, 5 compensated days off per year and a $200 per diem to use as you wish to further your wine knowledge. Your written report will beshared with the rest of the staff
- Dining Education: Up to $1,000 reimbursement per year for dining at mutually agreed upon restaurants. The dining benefit is contingent on a written report of the experience (required for reimbursement), which will be shared with The Herbfarm staff
- Participate in the annual Wine/Food education 3 day annual fall trip
Fine Dining Server
Join The Herbfarm as a Dining Room Server to help make life as perfect as it can be our guests for just a few hours.
You have the opportunity to create lasting memories in a relaxed and elegant setting while serving 5-hour, 9-course dining experiences at The Herbfarm Restaurant. Smiles, Elegance, Grace and several years of Hospitality experience are needed to apply for this position.
We seek an enthusiastic, passionate, disciplined, organized, warm, team member who is eager to learn The Herbfarm ways and provide better-than-expected service as part of our focused yet fun-loving service team.
The Herbfarm is a world-class fine dining experience where our food follows the seasons. Our feet are on the ground and we usually have a sense of humor. We are the only 5-diamond restaurant west of Chicago and north of San Francisco. That said, we are also the only restaurant serving 9-course meals where guests can visit and feed our pet piggies during dinner!
This server job is 4 nights per week most of the year--Thursday through Sunday (there are occasional exceptions) and one afternoon per month. Samplings of 4-star food with wine matches are a regular perq of this job.
Pre-requisites
- College education.
- 3 Years fine hospitality serving experience.
- A genuine desire to serve the customer and the company.
- Broad knowledge of fine dining foods and wines.

Cook
40 hours/week. Wednesday Day, Thursday-Sunday Nights
Overview
Assist in prepping and cooking extra-ordinary 9-course meals featuring seasonal, regional ingredients, and, of course—herbs! Work as team with other cooks under an award wining chef with incredible credentials.
Details
Mostly Wednesday through Sunday. All kitchen tasks from vegetable prep to harvesting herbs, baking, plating, line cook, clean-up, etc. Open kitchen so it must always be in order—calm, pleasant, and immaculate.
Experience
- 2 years in high – end kitchens
